The original village inn dates back to the 15th century and was in need of repair following years of poor maintenance and sub-standard repairs. The project set out to modernise the building but to retain and showcase the beautiful features of the historic building fabric.
The refurbishment included extending the existing accommodation building, converting an outbuilding into guest rooms, sensitive repair of historic timbers, opening up the restaurant space by removing stone heavy internal stone walls and creating a sunken seating area surrounded by new retaining walls.
The new premises, known as The Litton, offers a trendy craft beer pub, restaurant and boutique guest accommodation.
