KB2 have been appointed for providing structural services associated with the refurbishment of the Avenue Shopping Centre in Bournemouth. The shopping centre is an amalgamation of several different buildings originally constructed between the early 1900’s and the 1960’s.
KB2 have been involved in looking at lots of different options for the building which is currently significantly underutilized. These include adding additional storeys, converting partially to offices and using the roof top as an events space.
We have also been involved in the reclaiming the historic landmark façade which was overclad in the 1980’s. It has been a fascinating to see what was covered up and to be involved in reclaiming history to create a modern take on the landmark building it once was.
