KB2s education and training projects have included smaller schools, as well as larger education facilities, such as the Education Resource Centre for Strode College, Somerset.
The £3.5 million Education Resource Centre provided a 3,000m2 steel framed addition to Strode College. Designed with composite beams and concrete floors, the structure is exposed at the second floor and comprises cellular beam. Continuous flight augured piles penetrate the mudstones and limestone bands beneath alluvial materials, which together presented challenging geology for the project.
In addition to the superstructure, KB2 designed on-site paving and drainage, and carried out design appraisals of the off-site surface water system together with proposals for repairs.
