Project Description

Surgical Assessment Suite, Bristol Royal Infirmary

At the end of 2014, a new surgical facility on the roof of Bristol Royal Infirmary’s King Edwards Building was completed.

Designed by CMS Group and constructed by Halsall, the project involved the creation of a new Surgical Admissions Suite for the Bristol Royal Infirmary atop Level 6 of the King Edward Memorial VII Building. The building replaced the former Level 6 building which lied vacant and was contaminated with asbestos cladding.

KB2 were appointed to design the steel frame to support the prefabricated modular build, an unusual design challenge.

The project was the winner of the Bristol LABC Building Excellence Awards 2016 in the category of Best Commercial Development.
