Project Description

Brew House, Bristol

Brew House, Bristol is a Grade II Listed former brewery constructed in 1865 and located in central Bristol. The building retains its original pennant and limestone façade. The building was refurbished in the mid 1970’s covering up much of the building structure.

KB2 provided structural engineering services in relation to a full refurbishment to create a contemporary office building making the most of its original features but also adding some modern touches.

KB2 advised on fire protection enabling the removal of brickwork casing of original cast iron columns. A plant room dating from the 1970’s refurbishment was converted into a fully glazed roof meeting room, reusing existing steelwork and making full use of stunning views across the city.

KB2 worked with a local metal artisan to advise on fixing new ornamental signage and gate. We undertook feasibility works into converting existing roof space into a terrace area. We advised on removal of sections of internal walls to enable the creation of more open plan spaces.
