Ken Brown - Partner
Specific responsibility for strategic development and business planning. Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers. Trustee of the Architecture Centre, Bristol.
Ken graduated in Structural Engineering from the Brixton School of Building, where he won the Institution of Civil Engineers Prize and then spent his early years working in London, first in contracting with Rush & Tompkins before moving into consulting engineering. During this time he worked on a number of town centre projects in historic locations. In 1982 Ken founded Kenneth Brown & Partners with the philosophy that good buildings are borne out of a close working relationship between architect, engineer and client. Awards received from the RIBA, the Brick Development Association and the Civic Trust justify this belief.
Ken has a keen interest in building conservation work and the diagnosis of building problems. He has lectured on conservation repair and other topics and is actively involved with the Institution of Structural Engineers both locally and nationally.
Away from work his two contrasting passions are environmental conservation, which has taken him from Somerset woodlands to various remote corners of the globe and, more recently, competing in triathlete events and an ambition to take part in an Ironman competition.
