KB² provide civil and structural engineering support services for Avon Fire & Rescue property services. Over a number of years this has included specialist training facilites, condition surveys, crack monitoring, structural alterations, refurbishments, and extensions.
At Temple Back, Bristol, we recently completed the construction of the Urban Search and Rescue training rig within the existing maintenance bay. The rig incorporates drainage for simulating wet conditions. Construction is starting shortly on the Working at Height (SHAC) rig, which will be built around the existing training tower.
We provide engineering advice at all stages of the project, from feasibility planning to completion and commissioning, including full flood risk assessments together with section 106 or section 38 agreements where necessary.
"KB² have been providing the Property Services department at Avon Fire and Rescue
with a range of Structural Engineering solutions for over three years. These services
have manifested themselves through a number of different projects to include the
rectification of subsidence at Bath Fire Station, refurbishment of a former Man Trucks
warehouse in Avonmouth, design and supervision of fabrication of USAR training rig
and steel design for the vertical extension of Bedminster Fire Station.
Due to the nature of Avon Fire and Rescue, often information is required urgently
with little notice, a requirement that is consistently handled well by KB2. We have
always found work conducted by KB2 to be of a high standard which has always led
to the successful outcome of a project. Due to the Fire Service’s limited budget we
have always found KB2 to meet a successful design outcome in line with our limited
funding."
