Our broad range of consulting services includes geotechnical investigations, structural
appraisals, building defects, topographical surveys and subsidence investigations.
We firmly believe that the key
to providing imaginative, appropriate and cost-effective design solutions is to be in possession of as much relevant
information as possible early in the design process.
Investigations allow us to identify areas of risk, to work
with the client and construction team to agree the best course of action and deliver comprehensive reports with recommendations.
We are regularly engaged to conduct the following investigations:
Geotechnical investigation
KB2 is engaged to study foundation
soil parameters, carry out historical and environmental appraisals and conduct both contamination tests and radon
assessments.
Structural appraisal
Appraising an existing building is different to the
design of a new structure because we seek to assess the ability of the structure to be used for it’s intended
purpose. We need to know the actual condition of the structure and understand its historical development. We look
at any alterations, it’s material
strengths and sometimes conduct performance testing to assess either building elements or whole structures.
Building
defects/subsidence investigation
This requires KB2 to uncover the causes of subsidence or other signs of distress to an existing structure
and produce remedial proposals.
Drainage
Using visual and CCTV methods, KB2 investigates drainage conditions and conducts level surveys on
both public and private sewers.
Topographical study
KB2 will organize building and land surveys.
Structural surveys for solar energy generation
Specialised reports assessing the suitability and requirements for fitting solar photovoltaic (pv) arrays and solar thermal systems to commercial and private buildings.
